GP Explorer – YouTubers race Le Mans!
YouTubers race Le Mans!
In the global motorsport calendar, a new ‘race festival’ has found favour amongst the YouTube and online gaming community. On September 9th the second edition of GP Explorer took place at the iconic Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans, set-up within one of our XPO10 structures as part of the activation by lead sponsors Samsung.
The 24-hour Formula 4 car competition, conceived by infamous gamer and YouTuber Squeezie, garnered 1.3M viewers on Twitch, making it the most visible French event ever of its kind.
The races between high-profile content creators were watched by a physical audience of 60,000 avid fans, excited to spend the day immersed in the world of fast cars. In amongst meeting online idols and hanging out in a curated village of activities, festival goers could also experience a car exhibition, test drives, celebrity meet-ups and a concert. This year, Formula 1 drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly from the Alpine F1 Team were also invited to perform exhibition races and act as mentors to the aspiring young fans.
AirClad’s premium partners in France, LAB Services, were asked to devise a cutting edge experience for Samsung, to provide unmissable content for an audience of influencers and creators. The XPO10 structure was branded in Samsung’s unmistakable blue and white palette and saw queues all day for several race simulators. It was here that visitors could get behind the wheel of a Formula 4 car simulator to take on popular rap artists SCH & Soso Maness, in the heart of France’s most iconic racing circuit.
